Really beautiful piece. The paint metaphor is spot on, especially thinning out emotions by looking at them from diferent angles. I've noticed something similar happens when I just sit with the discomfort long enough instead of trying to fix it right away. It's kinda wild how accepting the full spectrum actually makes processing easier than trying to filter it out.
I recently learned how to solve a Rubik’s cube. When the cube is fully solved each face of the cube has it’s own color (blue, orange, white, red, green, and yellow).
The color orange symbolizes energy, enthusiasm.
The color white symbolizes peace, innocence, isolate.
The color red symbolizes anger, jealousy, passion.
The color yellow symbolizes happiness, hope, creativity.
The color green symbolizes balance, growth, jealousy.
The color blue symbolizes calmness, serenity, relaxation.
When you were younger you were looking at the full white side of the cube (isolation). As you got older your cube began to scramble and new emotions (colors) were introduced to you. You now have blue’s mixed with yellow’s, red’s mixed with green’s and so on. Everybody’s unscrambled cube is different just like the emotions we feel day to day is different from person to person. Solving a scrambled cube may be overwhelming at first but through trial and error we eventually learn how to place and deal with each color (emotion) until the cube is fully solved just like it was when we took it out of the box for the first time.
You express yourself beautifully. Maybe your Dad has cataracts? If so, that can be dealt with. Barbara O’Neill says that one drop of castor oil in each eye once a day breaks up the cataract, eventually. Most people who aren’t into natural remedies will have cataract surgery, which is very common.
Sounds like you had a very good upbringing by caring and loving parents.

Love you HJ...great writing.
This is just wonderful writing.
This is so beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. I love the image of adding milk to batter to thin out the consistency (emotion).
I like to think hyper awareness makes the monotony life richer, suspending time when we stop to observe.
Sending you hugs 🩷

Beautiful color analogy!
Only when we collect all of them are we truly complete. The full range of colors 💛
